In countries like Chile, where 50% of students have only graduated in middle education, it is fundamental to promote and train young people in technical capacities towards enabling them to get a job. Because of this, Entreculturas and Fe y Alegría Chile have been working for years to improve their education centers and develop the competences of students.
Nabiax and Asterion Industrial Partners, two leading companies in Data Centers, Telecommunications, Digital Transformation and Sustainable Investment have signed an alliance with the NGOs, to train professionally 155 teenagers in risk of social exclusion in Chile, through a program which include technical education and an internship. The main beneficiaries are the students of Telecommunications in Fe y Alegría Chile’s education centers of San Alberto and San Luis Beltrán.
In both centers, the students find themselves in a situation of risk of social exclusion, with a high vulnerability index, which makes their access to a job far more complicated. This is why the alliance means a unique opportunity to deepen into the knowledge acquired through formation in a practical way, having access to a temporary job, thanks to the internship that they will do in Nabiax’s Data Centers in Santiago de Chile. Being a leading company in the Data Center industry, this work experience gives the opportunity to start their careers in a multinational company, granting access to a job that, otherwise, would be complicated.
The project has three main lines of activity, through which the students can learn the necessary aptitudes for an employment. First, an area aimed to improve their insertion capabilities, with employability courses, interview simulations and mentoring from experts in Telecommunications. Second, the technical equipment of the education centers will be updated to the latest, to improve the formation given. Third, the participation of professionals of Nabiax in the formation courses, to be involved directly in the development of the students.
“This alliance, besides meaning a huge improvement for the professional and educational chances of the students of Fe y Alegría Chile’s centers, highlights the relevant role that companies play in education and development, being important change agents”, says Daniel Villanueva, Executive VP at Entreculturas.
Moreover, Emilio Díaz, CEO at Nabiax, pointed out: “This agreement is quite important for us. One of our main commitments is to support the vulnerable communities where we operate, and with the means we have: education and access to jobs in technical careers, looking to improve the equality of opportunities in our surroundings, and betting on sustainability in the medium term, being one of the key companies of our industry globally”.
Sebastián Urbán, Associate at Asterion Industrial Partners, added: “We are delighted to support Nabiax and Entreculturas in this project, which is a clear example of the impact that companies can and should have in the local communities, focusing on education and access to jobs as the key tools to generate opportunities”.
